What Is "Crushendo?"

Quite simply, these are the best home winemaking kits you can buy.  Unless you own a world-class vineyard, Crushendo wine will be better than using expensive (and hard-to-find) whole grapes.  Winexpert has wine experts on staff.  Their job is to locate and purchase the best grapes, using their volume buying power to get great deals on grapes that are in hot demand.

The new Crushendo grape pack is the key to a brilliantly intense red wine experience.  But how does it work? The key to making red wine is in the skin of the grapes. The flesh of red grapes is pale yellow: most of the color, flavor, and aroma compounds lie within the skin.  Traditional red wines are fermented with the skins.  The action of fermentation naturally extract color & flavor from the skins.  But until now, winemaking kits have been made with different techniques.  Without alcohol (and by law, winemaking kits can’t contain alcohol) some of the desirable skin compounds are very difficult to extract.

Now by including the skins and packaging them separately, Crushendo kits can deliver every nuance, all of the tannin, plus the brilliant colors and flavors of a super-premium red wine, with all the ageing potential and lush flavors of the best commercial wines.

The Crushendo grape pack and the ultra-premium vineyard-designated juices give brilliant aromas and flavors, and a velvety tannic grip, to make a wine of unique and piercing intensity. Each Crushendo winemaking kit also includes a special strainer for the tip of your racking (siphon) tube.  This strainer makes it easy to siphon out the fermented wine and leave the skins behind!

Montagnac Syrah/Mourvedre

Languedoc-Roussillon (lang-dock roo-see-onh) is one of the oldest and largest wine growing regions of France. Running from the sun-drenched shores of the Mediterranean to the border of Spain and the Pyrenees mountains, it has a wine making history reaching back centuries. The combination of a perfect Mediterranean climate and rich soil explains why Languedoc-Roussillon is one of the most successful wine regions in France.

Named for Occitan, (oh-kit-onh) the language of ancient troubadours, this wine is a special blend of the renowned grape varieties traditional to the region: Mourvèdre, Carignane, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier.

Vieux Chateau d’Oc is a bold wine, ruby red in color with a deep, dark plum and blackberry bouquet showing subtle accents of chocolate. Rich, lush and complex, soft black fruit combines with a hint of spiciness that follows through with a firm, tannic finish on the palate.

Castellina Supertuscan Di Sienna

Tuscany lies at the heart of Italian culture, language, literature and arts, and its rolling hills are immortalized in the work of many famous Italian painters. Those fertile hills, covered with olives and cypress trees along with vines, and the calcium rich marl soil combine with endless Tuscan sunshine and cold nights (which help retain intense varietal aromas) to make an ideal wine-growing environment.

In the 1970’s Winemakers in Tuscany broke with traditions of Chianti making to create undeniably great wines—the Supertuscans. They concentrated on a single Italian grape (Sangiovese) instead of the usual number of red and whites that go into traditional Chianti, and blended it with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, for a uniquely Italian wine with both well finessed tannins and supple fruit. Ironically, although Supertuscan wines are famous (and expensive) because they are made outside the traditional Italian classification, they are sold only as humble ‘vino di tavola’ (table wine)!

The bright cherry and lively fruit of Sangiovese matches brilliantly with the firm structure of classic Cabernet Sauvignon and the dark fruit of Merlot. Named for a hillside Tuscan village, Castellina Supertuscan is an immediately appealing red that gets better with age. This wine is a dark-cherry color with highlights of pretty, ruby-garnet. Bold, yet supple and expansive enough to be consumed with great pleasure, the big, smoky, earthy nose of ultra-ripe cherry and currant fruit is followed by a richly tannic finish.

Italian Valpolicella Classico Di Veneto
The power grape of Italy’s famed Valpolicella, Bardolino and Amarone, Corvina is renowned for fruity, full-bodied wines with cherry aromas and a hint of almond. The Veneto region stretches from the northeast border with Austria down to coastal Venice, with a mild continental climate ideal for long, controlled ripening and intense grapes.

Corvina Classico has lush, intriguing aromas of ripe red cherries and raspberries, delicate hints of almond, toast and spice and a richly tannic finish that has the fruit lingering on your palate for many minutes.

In the historic footsteps of Amarone (wine fermented with a reserve of crushed grapeskins) the Crushendo grape pack brings immense grape tannin and character to the wine, while the special yeast enhances the wonderful cherry fruitiness. Right out of the carboy this wine will have intense, gripping tannins, and although drinkable immediately, it will open up and blossom into a wine of unique power and elegance over two to four years.

Item #58105
Selection Crushendo Series
Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Located on the western edge of Sonoma’s Alexander Valley, hundreds of feet above the Russian River, Yeager’s Vineyard has a terroir of well drained rocky soils and west-facing sun-drenched slopes. This produces small, intensely flavored berries that impart elegance and definition to Crushendo Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon. The term “layered” was invented for this wine, which will change, re-inventing itself in bottle, developing more nuance and beguiling complexity as years pass.

The principal grape in Bordeaux wines, Cabernet Sauvignon is grown in most of the world’s wine regions although it requires a long growing season to ripen properly and gives low yields. The thick skin of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape results in wines high in tannin providing both structure and ageability.

Bright wild blackberry and cherry are complemented with abundant spice. Black pepper, vanilla, a hint of cedar, smoke and a characteristic note of cassis (blackcurrant) along with other red berry notes evolve over time to show a hint of dry chocolate on the finish. Finely knit together with a silky mid-palate, this wine has a rich tannic backbone for aging.
