We know this beer has a lot of fans, so we put together this recipe as a special tribute. This is a big beer - stronger than all but the craziest Imperial Ales. The darker color and maltier texture are derived from a combination of crystal malt, chocolate malt, honey malt, and special roasted malt. With more than 6 ounces of hops, the recipe has plenty of bite, with heady aroma from generous dry hopping.

Annapolis Home Brew's "bishop's Best" Pumpkin Ale is a medium-bodied ale with modest hop bitterness and light noble hop aroma. The first thing you notice is the pumpkin pie aroma, and the mild flavor of pumpkin is present. This beer finishes with the lingering taste and aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves. Color is coppery amber, carbonation is moderate, and the alcohol content is about 5.4 percent ABV. We use pre-cooked canned pumpkin, so anyone can brew this recipe on their stove-top without any special equipment, just be sure to have a decent thermometer on hand.
