Triple-scale hydrometer measures Specific Gravity, Balling/Brix (percent sugar), and Potential Alcohol. This is the standard beer and wine making hydrometer. Price: $6.99 Quantity:
Precise and very easy to read. Includes 10 tests vials and 10 precision samplers. Much more accurate and reliable than old-fashiones sodium hydroxide/phenothaline "acid titration kits."
The AccuVin Titratable Acidity test kit is designed to measure Titratable Acidity (TA) in grape juice, must and wine. The level of titratable acidity is important in optimizing extraction of flavor components prior to fermentation. During processing, controlling TA improves fermentation. Post fermentation monitoring of acidity levels leads to correct balance, and improves the efficacy of aging. Post fermentation monitoring of TA levels can also be used to follow undesireable changes caused by yeasts or bacteria.
The range of the AccuVin TA Kit is from 4.0 - 11.0 g/L as tartaric acid. Price: $23.99 Quantity:
Contains 10 test strips + 10 precision samplers.
Narrow range for high resolution reading between pH 3.0 to pH 4.0.
Use for optimizing grape maturity at harvest, improving fermentation, and to determine color stability after fermentation. Price: $27.49 Quantity:
Contains 10 test strips and 10 precision samplers.
Indicates residual sugar from beloe 100 ppm up to 2000 ppm.
Use to determine completeness of fermentation, enhancing flavor, and determining microbial stability of wine. Price: $32.99 Quantity:
Indicates Malic Acid from below 30 ppm up to 500 ppm. Use to monitor optimum grape maturity at harvest, progress of malo-lactic fermentation, and completeness of malo-lactic fermentation. Price: $38.99 Quantity:
The L-Lactic Acid Kit is intended for measuring the L-lactic acid in wines to ensure that malolactic fermentation has begun.
It is not always easy to determine if the appearance of bubbles following primary fermentation is the onset of actual MLF or merely a wine "outgassing" as it warms.
This test kit, with a test range of 10 - 400 mg/L, can also be used to screen for high levels of contamination by lactic acid bacteria. Price: $22.49 Quantity:
The D-Lactic Acid kit is designed to measure D-Lactic Acid concentration, an important indicator of excess or unwanted growth of lactic acid bacteria.
When winemaking is well controlled, these bacteria play an important role in improving wine quality, but when growth occurs at the wrong time or of the wrong species, wine quality and acceptability are greatly decreased. Regular monitoring can help prevent the development of lactic taint, biogenic amines, and bitter, "mousy," or "ropy" wines.
The D-Lactic Acid kit has a range of 30 - 500 mg/L, equivalent to a range of 120 - 2000 mg/L with diluted samples. Price: $50.49 Quantity:
Contains 10 test vials and 10 precision samplers.
The Accuvin Free SO2 (Free Sulfur Dioxide) kit measures the level of free SO2.
The sulfur dioxide present in must and wine is not all useful as a preservative. Some is bound to other chemical components, reducing its effectiveness as a preservative by 30 - 70%. Also, the degree of binding can change over time, affecting the ability of an adequate dose to continue providing its preservative properties.
The effectiveness of sulfur dioxide as a preservative is also pH-dependent, with low pH wines requiring lower levels, and high pH wines requiring significantly greater concentrations to achieve the same effectiveness as in a typical wine with a pH of 3.3 - 3.4.
This Accuvin Free SO2 Test Kit includes eight "low range" (0 - 40 ppm) and two "high range" (40 - 130 ppm) tests. Price: $35.99 Quantity:
Contains 10 dilute kits.
The AccuVin Quick Dilutes are designed for one step dilution of samples with concentrations above the range shown on the product color chart.
They are especially useful for estimating pre-malolactic levels of malic acid, and when making a non-dry wine with a residual sugar level above 2,000 mg/L. Price: $10.29 Quantity:
Titrets are an extremely accurate way to measure the SO2 (Sulfur Dioxide) content of your wine. Each package contains 10 test ampules. Proper SO2 levels are very important for good shelf life and proper flavor.
Recommended for use with dry white wines only. Price: $18.99 Quantity:
The titretter is reusable a holder for a titret ampule. It has a lever which operates the valve that's built into each titret; this valve regulates the drawing of fluid into the test chamber. Titrets are difficult to use without a titretter! Price: $6.99 Quantity:
Precision refractometer indicates sugar content from 0 to 32 brix (percent sugar solution.) Includes hard plastic case with molded foam insert, leatherette carrying bag, calibrating solution with micro screwdriver, pipette, and cleaning cloth. Price: $79.99 Quantity:
Put in a few drops of wine, then turn it upside down. The tiny capillary tube drains down until surface tension holds some of the wine in place. This indicates alcohol percentage, like reading an oral thermometer. Won't work after wine is sweetened. Price: $6.99 Quantity:
