Schwartzbier is an interesting style, but not one you'll find for sale very often. It's almost completely black, yet medium light-bodied - completely unlike a stout or porter. Besides a few microbreweries who brew Schwartzbier, the only one most of us can find in stores is Japan's Sapporo Black - and that's hardly ever imported nowadays. Schwartzbier has a nice roasted malt flavor yet it's easy-drinking and refreshing, with much livelier carbonation than stouts or porters. This is a great beer to introduce lager-loving friends to "the dark side," and you'll like it too!
